PARKFAIR was located on a semiopen Parkdeck in Vienna. That was a great idea! I think, that Art in public places or exhibitions in public places are one of the most difficult but also one of the most interesting kinds of presentation for contemporary art. For me, it was one of the more interesting shows in this week of Artfairs, openings, happenings, …….. in Vienna.
I visited this Exhibiton one day after a storm. As always, with exhibitions in public places – you can calculate with some troubles – but you can’t calculate with them all. And a heavy storm is bad luck 😦 . Some of the artworks were fallen down, some others were even broken. That’s not fine. But … A Parkdeck is not a gallery or a white box. It’s nearly open air. And in an exhibition like PARKFAIR there are some more rules to pay attention. For example: a minimum of fixation. I’ve seen artworks that wouldn’t even stand a breeze. So, please take care of site-specific characteristics and opportunities! for the next projects.
Anyway. Great idea, good show (with some troubles)
See you next time.
