One of my favourites these days!
mystic, raw, straight, scientific, natural, enormous, epic, great!
Gabríela Friðriksdóttir (born in 1971 in Reykjavík, Iceland) is an Icelandic artist and sculptor.
Outside of her contributions in the art world, she is known for her collaboration with the Icelandic musician and superstar Björk. The two have collaborated on Björk’s 2002 CD box set Family Tree and on the 2005video for Björk’s song „Where is the Line“ from the album Medúlla. The two also combined their multimedia efforts at the 2005 La Biennale di Venezia in Venice, Italy.
Gabriela Fridriksdottir was born in Reykjavik, Iceland, in 1971. Working between video, sculpture, drawing, performance, painting and writing, she has created one of the most unique bodies of work in contemporary art. In Fridriksdottir’s world, it’s impossible to separate any one element from the others – the simplest sketch could be the starting point for a technically elaborate, beautifully shot film; a fragment of writing could be elaborated into a cycle of performances; and a story briefly hinted at in one piece could become an entire installation later on.
