VOESTALPINE STAHLWELT

Today I visited voestalpine Stahlwelt. Voestalpine Stahlwelt is a museum of voestalpine, one of the biggest european companies in steel production. The Museum is setteled in the company location in Linz (Austria). The Exhibition represents the history of the company and explains the production of steel.

Inside the voestalpine Stahlwelt hangs an enormous steel rotunda, modeled after a steel plant crucible. The crucible – the central world of discovery – features 80 large, chrome plated spheres measuring up to 2.5 meters in diameter and serving as brilliant points of reference. The biggest spheres include Video- and Soundpresentation. There are many Touch Screens to make your own choises and invite you to be part in this exhibition. After the opening of voestalpine Stahlwelt in 2009 the display and presentation is still on top and a perfect advertisement example for a company.

THE FLOOD 2013

From June 3rd to June 8th we had a big flood in the region of Strudengau.
Here you can find some Pics of the flood and clean up after the desaster. My studio was also desolated. The tide was 2,0 meters inside the studio. So I start a search for a new studio.

To mark the 25th anniversary of the Generali Foundation, three international curators—Guillaume Désanges, Helmut Draxler, and Gertrud Sandqvist—will each organize a show using a unique presentation format to shed light from individual angles on the Generali Foundation’s collection, its institutional and exhibition policies, and hence its contribution to historiography on the basis of institutional work. Additional discussions and lectures taking place throughout this anniversary year will take their cue from the curators’ different personal approaches, the questions they raise concerning the definition of what is called Concept (Conceptual) art and what it means to collect and curate it, and their reflections on the relationship between Conceptual and historical display strategies and the artworks themselves. The first show is by French curator and critic Guillaume Désanges.

With works by Robert Barry, Gottfried Bechtold, Marcel Broodthaers, Ernst Caramelle, Lili Dujourie, VALIE EXPORT, Andrea Fraser, Bruno Gironcoli, Dan Graham, Hans Haacke, Sanja Iveković, Jarosław Kozłowski, Richard Kriesche, Friedl Kubelka, Dóra Maurer, Gordon Matta-Clark, Dennis Oppenheim, Ewa Partum, Adrian Piper, Martha Rosler, Gerhard Rühm, Allan Sekula, Goran Trbuljak, Ian Wallace, Peter Weibel, Franz West, and others.

September 19–23, 2012, Vienna, Austria

Staged in paralell with the Viennafair (September 19–23, 2012) the electrifying Expo PARKFAIR is held for the second time this year and will present its theme-based ARTE NOAH 2012 exhibition on the third-floor parking deck of Vienna’s Stadion Center. Over five days, 49 contemporary artists explore the subject of „Judgment Day 2012“ through location-specific interventions, installations, performances as well as video and media art – an innovative discourse on contemporary Austrian art, which reflects on economic, social, and ecological awareness and responsibility.

THE ZOO

Yesterday I visited the zoo in Stadt Haag. Here are some pics.

REGIONALE XII

Yesterday I visited the Regionale 12 in Styria – district of Murau. Regionale is an annual Exhibition in public spaces like squares, bridges, old houses or an monastery. The Maintheme is Town, Country, River. Because of many exhibitions places and the distances between them (you need a car) it’s nearly impossible to visit all of the works within one day. It’s worth to stay two days in the district of Murau to visit all the artworks. There are some great works to see (and hear). Most of them are installations (all medias) and videos.

CONTEMPORARY ART IN THE THESEUS TEMPLE

Ugo Rondinone wisdom? peace? blank? all of this? at the Theseus Temple, Vienna
Ugo Rondinone wisdom? peace? blank? all of this? at the Theseus Temple, Vienna

There is a new place in Vienna for contemporary art!
As part of the Kunsthistorische Museum the Theseus Temple has re-open.

The Temple’s program is to present one work from one artist.

It starts with Ugo Rondinone’s „wisdom? peace? blank? all of this? „

You can see a big, old, gnarled olive tree in an otherwise empty building. It was cast by Ugo Rondinone from a two-thousand-year-old living tree in a field in Basilicata in southern Italy – every bump, scratch or scar carefully rendered. Painted white and lit by continually changing daylight, the tree seems magical, unfathomable – as though from another world.

NAGA – Schmuck und Asche

Museum für Völkerkunde
Neue Burg
Heldenplatz, 1010 Wien

1. Februar 2012 bis
11. Juni 2012
